“Sensitive” is a term that the cosmetics industry indeed uses to assess the skin’s responsiveness, however, dermatologists have a different definition. Dermatologists define sensitive skin as skin that has a reduced threshold for substances that can cause irritation. Dermatologists distinguish between sensitive skin and allergic skin, which constitutes a medical problem. Sensitive skin responds to various environmental irritations more strongly than normal skin. Sensitive skin has lost its natural immune and protective functions. The reasons for this are manifold. The cause of a sensitive reaction is not only incorrect skin care, but also the interaction of diverse factors.
